Overview
Are your earlobes stretched, torn, or damaged from heavy earrings, gauges, or trauma? Earlobe revision surgery is a specialized procedure designed to repair and reshape earlobes, restoring their natural appearance. Whether you have stretched earlobes, stretched piercings, or split earlobes, our expert surgeons can help you achieve a balanced and refined look.
What is Earlobe Revision?
Earlobe revision is a cosmetic surgical procedure aimed at repairing and reshaping earlobes that have been stretched, torn, or damaged. This includes:
Stretched Earlobe Repair: Corrects earlobes that have been stretched by heavy earrings or gauges.
Stretched Piercing Repair: Repairs and closes stretched piercing holes.
Split Earlobe Repair: Mends earlobes that have been torn or split due to trauma or prolonged earring wear.

Benefits
Restored Appearance: Achieve a natural, aesthetically pleasing look by repairing and reshaping damaged earlobes.
Enhanced Confidence: Feel more comfortable and confident in your appearance.
Quick Procedure: The surgery is typically quick and can be performed under local anesthesia.
Minimal Scarring: Incisions are made in discreet locations to minimize visible scarring.
Customizable: The procedure is tailored to meet your specific needs and aesthetic goals.
The Procedure
Consultation: Your journey begins with a comprehensive consultation with our board-certified plastic surgeon. We’ll discuss your concerns, medical history, and desired outcomes to create a personalized treatment plan.
Anesthesia: The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia, ensuring your comfort throughout the surgery.
Incision and Repair: Small incisions are made to remove damaged tissue and repair the earlobe. The remaining tissue is carefully reshaped and sutured to restore a natural contour.
Closing the Incisions: The incisions are closed with fine sutures, and a small bandage is applied to support the earlobe during the initial healing process.
Recovery: Post-surgery, you’ll receive detailed instructions for recovery. Most patients experience minimal discomfort and can return to their normal activities within a few days. Full healing and final results are typically seen within a few weeks.
The Ideal Candidate
1. Individuals with Split Earlobes:
Cause: Often caused by trauma, such as earrings being pulled or torn through the lobe.
Appearance: The ear lobe may appear split into two parts.
2. Individuals with Stretched Earlobes:
Cause: Commonly a result of wearing heavy earrings or intentionally stretching the lobe with gauges.
Appearance: The ear lobe has an elongated hole or appears significantly stretched.
3. People with Keloids or Scarring on the Ear Lobes:
Cause: Previous piercings or injuries that have led to excessive scar tissue or keloid formation.
Appearance: Noticeable bumps or thickened scars on the ear lobe.
4. Patients with Congenital Ear Lobe Deformities:
Cause: Present from birth.
Appearance: Irregularly shaped ear lobes that might affect symmetry and balance of facial features.
Recovery
Immediate Post-Surgery Care
Rest: After the procedure, it's important to rest and avoid strenuous activities for the first 24-48 hours.
Dressings: Your surgeon will apply dressings to protect the surgical site. Keep these dressings clean and dry.
Pain Management: Mild discomfort is common, and over-the-counter pain relievers are usually sufficient to manage any pain. Your surgeon may prescribe medication if necessary.
First Week of Recovery
Swelling and Bruising: Some swelling and bruising around the ears are normal and should subside within a week. Applying a cold compress can help reduce swelling.
Keep It Clean: Follow the cleaning instructions provided by your surgeon. Typically, this involves gently cleaning the area with a mild antiseptic solution.
Avoid Irritation: Be careful not to irritate or bump your ears. Avoid sleeping on your side and be cautious when using your phone or wearing glasses.
Follow-Up Appointments
Initial Follow-Up: You’ll have a follow-up appointment within a week after surgery. Your surgeon will check the healing progress and remove any non-dissolvable stitches if used.
Additional Visits: Further follow-up appointments may be scheduled to monitor your recovery and address any concerns.
Long-Term Care
Scar Management: Scars from ear lobe revision are typically minimal and fade over time. Using silicone gel or sheets can help improve the appearance of scars.
Sun Protection: Protect the healed area from direct sun exposure to prevent darkening of the scars. Use sunscreen or wear a hat when outside.
Avoid Re-Piercing: Re-piercing the ear should be avoided for at least 6 months to ensure complete healing. Consult your surgeon before getting your ears re-pierced.
